With the release of Prime Video’s new TV show, Daisy Jones and the Six, the once fictional album ‘Aurora’ has come to life.
Based on Tayor Jenkins Reed novel by the same name, Daisy Jones and the Six, follows the chaoticness of a 70’s rock band from all of their relationships to trying to make it in a cut-throat industry. Based on Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors and relationship between lead singer Stevie Nicks and lead guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. The DJATS cast have made this album a reality.
Although none of the cast members knew how to play their instruments, even singer Suki Waterhouse who plays Karen in the show, had to undergo ”bandcamp” for over a year to be able to put the album together.
The band recorded over 24 original songs for the TV show. Written by songwriter contributors such as Marcus Mumford, Chris Weisman, Phoebe Bridgers, Jackson Browne, Z Berg, and many more; recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios.
“Aurora represents the pinnacle of a short-lived recording career,” Blake Mill, one of the writers and producers of “Aurora”, said in a statement. “It also serves as proof — for both the fictional band and the real one who dreamed this up together — that pouring your heart and soul into something you believe in can have a profound effect on the rest of your life”.
This album hit the top of the charts within the week it was released, bringing back a nostalgic sound of rock and roll to a new generation. With songs like “The River” and “Regret Me” resembling a sense of resentment between the leads, while songs like “Please” make both viewers and listeners turn their heads because of the sense of longing and adoration set in it. It's fun, it's rock and roll, it's Daisy Jones and the Six.
